Attention Studio Art and Art History Seniors graduating Spring 2015 or Fall 2014

Senior Art Exhibition 2015 will include a one-month-long exhibition at several campus venues, including the ASI Art Gallery (formerly Cesar Chavez Art Gallery) and the Hall Cases in the Fine Arts Building. All works submitted will be displayed, but the CCSC Art Gallery’s presentation will be selected by noted Bay Area independent curator Kevin Chen, working with ASI Art Gallery Manager and Curator David de Rozas.



Studio Majors: Submit digital images of up to 2 works to Digital submissions should be in a PDF format. Submissions are due Thursday, April 9th. Your PDF must include a clear image of the work, and be titled with the artist’s first and last name. Include the title, medium, dimensions (height by width by depth), year of completion, and any special instructions for installation or presentation of the work. Include your email address and phone number for questions. If YOU have any questions, email: The selection process will take place on Friday April 17th . You will receive an email about where your work will be exhibited. If selected for the ASI ART GALLERY SENIOR 2015 ART EXHIBITION, you must bring your work on Wednesday, April 22nd from 11am to 6 pm to The ASI Art Gallery, located on the Terrace Level of the Student Center. After the exhibition you will need to pick up your work on May 29 between 11am to 6 pm, or make arrangements for someone else to pick it up for you. The Gallery cannot store work, so work not picked up will be discarded. Senior Art Exhibition 2015 will have opening receptions at all locations on Saturday, April 25th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., to coincide with the MFA Thesis Exhibition Reception in the Fine Arts Gallery. A closing reception for ALL Art Department graduating seniors on will be hosted on Thursday, May 21st, the day before Commencement. Details to follow. Please invite your guests.


Kevin B. Chen has been involved in the San Francisco Bay Area arts community for over two decades as a curator, writer, and visual artist. He was the Program Director of Visual Arts at Intersection for the Arts for over 15 years, where he curated over 60 exhibitions and hundreds of public programs, including solo exhibitions by Lebbeus Woods, Hasan Elahi, Margaret Harrison, Taraneh Hemami, Conrad Atkinson, Ala Ebtekar, Jamex & Einar de la Torre, Claudia Bernardi, Binh Danh, Weston Teruya & Michele Carlson, Victor Cartagena, and Marcos Ramírez ERRE. He has also curated projects for Headlands Center for the Arts, de Young Museum, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries, California Shakespeare Theater, San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music, and Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco & Kearny Street Workshop. His curatorial work has been reviewed in publications nationally, including Art in America, afterimage: the journal of media arts and cultural criticism, Sculpture Magazine, Art Papers, New Art Examiner, Art Nexus, Bidoun Magazine, Contemporary Magazine, Bitch Magazine, and the Huffington Post.


The Art Gallery is a student-run and student-funded program of the Associate Students at the Cesar Chavez Student Center.
