Makers Market 2012

Makers Market is a semi-annual fair that celebrates the value of hand-made objects through the heart of tactile commerce, and re-opens the marketplace to both the novice and seasoned “professional” alike. All vendors upstairs in the Cesar Chavez Student Center are SF State students, alumni, or staff. Booths are spread throughout the Art Gallery and the surrounding lounge areas of the 3rd Floor Terrace level and is temporarily transformed into a miniature holiday fair along with the historic Associated Students’ Crafts Fair downstairs on the Plaza Level. Makers Market seeks to engage both the University and local community in appreciation of hands-on, do-it-yourself art during a season of gift-giving, and will host workstations to make your own DIY gifts. Both days will host live music, literary readings, libations and tasty treats. Maker’s Market empowers artists to shape their own economy. By supporting these local, “micro-businesses”, small enterprises and independent artists organized by The Art Gallery upstairs and Associated Students downstairs, you join us in actualizing a philanthropic, pop-up art market, and assist in actively creating a more fair and economically sustainable world. Buy local, make art (at our workshop stations), feel good. Curators: Carolyn Ho, ROMC, and ASI CCSC
